Please view the attached newsletter for a range of information about what is going on in the life of the church this week.
I’d particularly like to draw your attention to these items:-
Thursday 22nd March 7.30pm, in the vicarage
Final Lent Group – Simplicity
The spiritual disciplines are an aid to help us delve deeper into God’s love, that our lives might increasingly reflect this amazing love in all we do, think and say. How are you getting on with putting them into practice?
Questions for this week:
- Why is it harder to be simple than to be complicated?
- How do you tell the difference between simplicity and simple-mindedness?
- Has your faith become simpler or more complicated over time?
Stations of the Cross 6.30-7pm
For the remaining weeks of Lent our Sunday evenings will focus on Jesus journey to the cross. At this first service we use the bold, expressive art of Sieger Koder and words of reflection to draw us into the experiences of Jesus – and those around him – in the final hours of his life.
Lent Mean Bean Challenge
Could you last for 5 days living on only beans and rice (and a little salt, but no veg or spices!) – and at the same time raise money to support the Mbuti pygmie peoples of the Democratic Republic of Congo? The people of the DRC have suffered immensely over many years through conflict, corruption and poverty – but the Mbuti people suffer even more – cruelly stigmatised and treated by others as sub-human.
Revd Lesley will take the Mean Bean Challenge (19th – 23rd March) to raise money to support them. Could you join in by sponsoring or becoming a St Andrew’s Bean yourself? www.tearfund.org/meanbean https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lesley-s-mean-bean-5-day-challenge2018
