Please view the attached newsletter for a range of information about what is going on in the life of the church this week.
I’d particularly like to draw your attention to these items:-
Tuesday 25th September 10am-12.30
‘Eat Well’ workshop
A brand new series of our popular healthy eating workshops begins on 25th Sept. Nutritional therapist Sarah Green will demonstrate the preparation of a tasty, nutritious lunch, answering all your food queries. Followed by a free lunch. All welcome.
We are seeking to raise £5,000 by the end of September (either in gifts or in pledges) towards the salary of a new Youth and Community Leader – someone to continue and develop the excellent work Penny and Jordana have built up over the past couple of years. Exact total so far is not to hand at time of going to print, but it is around £3,000. That’s fantastic! We are well on our way to reaching the target! But only 4 weeks to go….. Meanwhile other fundraising conversations are happening around the local community and with trusts and foundations.
HG Walters, the award-winning butcher in Barons Court (that already generously provides ALL the meat for the homeless project for free) has pledged £1,000 a year for the next 3 years. If you are passing HG Walters, please pop in to tell them how much we appreciate their support of the church’s work in the community.
Confirmation in the Church of England is for those who have been baptised and who would like to ‘confirm’ the baptism promises they made or that were made on their behalf. It’s also a time when God, through the blessing of the Holy Spirit and the laying on of hands ‘confirms’ God’s love for the candidate. To prepare for confirmation we will run a series of weekly evening classes in Autumn to explore more deeply together what the Christian faith is all about.
Sometimes candidates who haven’t been baptised are baptised and confirmed, all in the same service.
If you’d like to know more, please contact Revd Lesley. Classes will be arranged to suit those who come forward. We hope to have a confirmation service early in 2019.
