Please view the attached newsletter for a range of information about what is going on in the life of the church this week.
I’d particularly like to draw your attention to these items:-
Sunday 19th August 10am
This will be Penny Stradling’s final day with us at St Andrew’s. Penny will be moving to Liverpool where she will begin training for ordination at St Mellitus college. Please join us to send Penny on her way with our love and our prayers!
A new Youth & Community worker!
Penny has done a fantastic job – but as we know, Penny is leaving! We really want to continue and build on all that she and Jordana have done, not only on the estates, but in the church and parish generally.
So we’re aiming to have a new youth & community worker in place by the end of this year – but first we need to raise the funds for him or her!
The PCC has agreed to commit a sum (from legacy money) towards the costs and invites the congregation to match fund. We’re also approaching local businesses and applying to charitable trusts and foundations.
Over the last few Sundays you have received a leaflet outlining the work already done, and the ongoing need and you are invited to join this exciting adventure. By pledging your support this means you don’t give money now, but promise to do so once we are sure everything is in place. Please consider prayerfully if God might be asking YOU to support this work, then fill in and return the form. The youth and community work has become a key part of the mission of St Andrew’s, and an excellent opportunity to share the Good News and love of God across our community.
We aim to raise £5,000 by the end of September. So far, we have reached £1400 either given or pledged.
That’s a fantastic start!! If 35 people committed to £10 a month for the next year, we will reach our target. That’s only 1 cup of coffee a week!! It can be done!!
If you’d like to set up a standing order – and yes, that would be an excellent way to contribute –
bank details are as follows:
Sort code 40-07-14; Account number 41319590.
NB: Please give as a reference your name (unless you would prefer to remain anonymous) followed by YCW. (That stands for Youth & Community Worker).
THANK YOU! With God’s help, we can do this!!!
